David A. Thompson, DMD
Dr. David A. Thompson, DMD graduated from Sarasota High School in 1974 and received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of South Florida. He attended the University of Florida College of Dentistry and also completed a General Practice Residency Program at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. Dr. Thompson then received his oral and maxillofacial surgery and Anesthesia training at the University of Florida Shands Jacksonville.
Dr. Thompson joined his father Dr. Robert Thompson in 1989 until his retirement later that year. He practiced oral and maxillofacial surgery in Sarasota for 21 years and served on staff at Sarasota Memorial Hospital and Doctors Hospital. During this time, he held many state and local leadership positions including President of the Florida Society of oral and maxillofacial surgery and President of the Sarasota County Dental Association.
Dr. Thompson answered the call to serve his country in 2011 served 4 years as a Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Army. He was stationed at Fort Hood, Texas and was deployed to Afghanistan, caring for both our military and Afghan civilians. Dr. Thompson returned to Sarasota in 2015 and continues to serve the community.
